I’ve been super industrious over the past two weeks. You know what’s awesome about that – I am loving what I am doing! Seriously I’ve caught myself staying up into the wee hours of the morning because I just can’t put down what I’m working on. I have always enjoyed making things for my classroom over the summer but this summer is different because I’m sharing with you! I am so thankful for your feedback. I’m excited about what you are going to do with what we share! Now we have a new way to do that – YouTube!
Milton & Prescott is now on YouTube! Currently you can find supplements for the Pre-Primer Sight Word Unit and the Color & Number Word Unit. I’ve made videos for each reader from the unit. Like most everything I create the videos are designed to follow a pattern for fast, more effective learning.
• Introduction to the reader, the reader name, focus words and a quick description of the pattern.
(Once you have used the readers consistently you may want to skip this part. It serves two purposes, it tells the teacher and students what to expect and it sets the stage allowing a few seconds for students to focus.)
• Students read the reader slowly with the narrator.
• Students read the reader at a more fluent pace, again with the narrator.
• Students read the reader by themselves.
• Congratulations on a job well done.
That’s it! Super simple but effective. I hope these readers and videos are making a difference in your lives and the lives of your students. I’d love to hear your thoughts and how you are making these tools work for you and your students.
Please like, share and subscribe both here on our website and our YouTube channel. Those simple acts are what will keep Milton & Prescott a FREE resource.
Enjoy!
This unit builds on the Pre-Primer and Color & Number Word Units already posted. The Primer sets follows the same pattern as the Pre-Primer unit. There are thirteen reader sets in this unit! Each set has seven additional components to help you teach the Primer Sight Words. I hope you find it as helpful as the previous units. If you haven’t checked out the Pre-Primer or Color & Number Word Units I highly recommend you do. I have been using them for the past four years with great results.
I updated the following pieces of the Pre-Primer Unit. If you have already saved or printed these pieces I recommend updating your files.
Pre-Primer Overview
Pre-Primer Reader Tracker Sheet
