Welcome to Milton & Prescott!
I hope you find more than you dreamed possible when it comes to FREE printables.
As a teacher myself, I know the drain a little purchase here and a little purchase there can be. It is a struggle for me to ask someone to purchase something I know they can’t always afford but usually need. Yet behind me are my avid supporters and colleagues saying you should sell your stuff! Well, since I can’t bring myself to sell I thought how about I share. And so Milton and Prescott was born.
Milton because it just seemed like the perfect name for a gangly, clumsy moose – my favorite animal. Prescott, a proper little British hedgehog who knows a few things more than his good friend Milton, chosen because a hedgehog was my most unique pet – at least for now. I’m a more than a little bit of a critter lover.Â
Now that you know the backstory I’ll share a little about myself.Â
I am Kasey, a certified early childhood teacher. Having taught grades pre-k to 2, I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that kindergarten is my jam with pre-k running a very close second. Saying your passionate about something seems to be becoming passé but I, still am, even after years of teaching. I am passionate about early education, specifically within pre-k and kindergarten!
Creating for my classroom invigorates me! Finding something that appeals to my students or answers a need I see they have is the best feeling. The letter books that we have available were actually created in response to my pre-kinders wanting books to read like their more advanced friends. They were so excited to get to practice their letters with their new books. That is my why, and its worth every hour and penny spent! Sometimes, its not what the world or the researchers say is the best way, sometimes we have to listen to what students say their needs and wants are.Â
Â
I live in central Oklahoma, where I am currenlty an Instructional Coach for a large urban school district. During the 2020-2021 school year I transitioned to online learning for my district. Yes, I taught kindergarten on a virtual platform. Yes, it was challenging but it is also very rewarding for my families.Â
I am what some term a “dog mom” but I’m not partial to that terminology. There are a lot of dogs in this house but I have a good excuse! They all started as fosters! I was giving them a chance at survival. Well, they’re surviving now in the lap of luxury – lol. I will say I’m down from seven to three, but yes it is a lot of dogs. I affectionately refer to them as the babies. For all intents and purposes they still are! Â
Reading is the best way to spend any kind of day! Some of my favorite authors are Jen Turano, Kaye Dacus, Julie Klassen, Jane Austin and Lucy Maud Montgomery.Â
If you can’t read you should watch tons of movies. In particular your favorites again and again. When I’m working on printables I can promise you that one of mine is playing in the background – Road to Avonlea, Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth), Downtown Abby, Great British Baking Show. The list is lengthy and highly diverse, as right now I am watching past seasons of The Amazing Race. Before that I was stuck on Prime’s Grand Tour which led me down a rabbit hole of old Top Gear episodes.Â
Well, that’s about it!Â
Nothing special, just one teacher with a desire to make other teachers’ lives a little less chaotic and expensive, while still allowing them to give their students everything they deserve.Â
I hope you find that at Milton & Prescott.Â
Enjoy,Â
KaseyÂ
